Q&A regarding Research Groups
What are the Research Groups?
The Research Groups are a way to meet motivated ethical hackers and share knowledge with them (learn & teach). It is not intended to crack applications, softwares or any related content or meet people to talk about subjects that are not related to security.
Can anyone join the Research Groups?
Potentially yes, provided you meet all of these criteria:
- Speak and write English
- Be motivated by learning and sharing knowledge
- Respect the code of ethics
How to join a Research Group?
First check that you meet all of the criteria described above. Then submit the following form to this email address and we will come back to you quickly.
May I be banned from the Aldeid community?
There are rules to respect. Any violation of one of these rules implies severe consequences. The very first rule consists of respecting the code of ethics. By joining the Aldeid Community, you commit yourself to only make tests against machines you have been assigned to (ensure you have appropriate authorizations). The second one is the respect of the objectives. There is a priori no reason why the objectives couldn't be met. Objectives are basically simple and you can look to the support of the other attendees of the Research Group. Nevertheless, if the director of the Research Group feels that you're not motivated enough, he/she could ban you from the group.
For more information, read the Terms and Conditions.
May I join more than one lab?
Potentially yes, although it is recommended to join one Group at a time to maximize your chances to meet the objectives. Once you will have completed all of these, you will be free to join another Research Group. Also notice that in case the objectives are not met, you could be banned from the research Group.
How are research Groups organized?
Each Research Group is directed by a professional in the domain of security. Once your submission has been accepted, you are contacted by the director of the Research Group who provides you with further details. Basically, you will have one or more objectives (e.g. realize some tests and send the results) to meet. The attendees of the Group you're working for are all making researches on the same stuff but it could be on a different environment or with different objectives. Should you have any difficulty, the aldeid community is here to help you.
Is there an entry fee?
No, it's absolutely free.
Will I earn money?
No.
I have developed a tool in the shape of a Research Group. Who is owner?
You and eventually people who have participated are owner of the tool. The only requirement is to mention the Aldeid Community in the *authors* section.
I still have questions
Your question is not mentioned above? Feel free to send a mail.
